Christmas & Pictures!

Mele Kalikimaka & Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!
(Merry Christmas & Happy New Year)

Breakfast of grapefruit, kiwi and tofu scramble

A little coffee to get me through my last minute shopping. I got an iced soy toffee nut latte, mmm.
This was my Christmas dinner. It was my first time ever trying Tofurkey Roast. I have to say that I am not super impressed with it. I think I am just not a big fan of mock meat. I guess it's because I don't really even like anything that resembles the taste of real meat. I suppose if you used to enjoy turkey you may like this. I have a ton left over and the only way I have been able to eat it so far is to slice it up and put it in a sandwich with cranberry and Veganese. Oh, and I didn't like the mushroom "giblet" gravy at all.

So... in this picture I was attempting to take a good picture of my smoothie and then noticed Sonic outside just staring at me.

This was about 5 seconds later. He LOVES to run and especially loves when people watch him run. It must be the greyhound in him.

This was a sign I found at a craft store. I love it! It's up in my kitchen now.
I wanted to share this present that I got because I thought it was so sweet. We stopped by a friend of my husband's home on Christmas day and one of them gave me this lovely VEGAN gift basket! How sweet huh? I was so excited and happy for the thoughtfulness of the gift! I mean, no one has ever bought me a vegan present before besides my husband. It had lots of goodies in it too :)

This was a Chinese tea set that my brother bought me for Christmas. I love it!

My Christmas was great! Did everyone else have a good Christmas?

  1. The fruit looks like a great breakfast component. I love citrus in the winter, it really feels like Christmas to me. Oh, I have some Tofurkey gravy that I was too scared to even open.

What a great photo of the two of you, too - glad to hear you had a good holiday even though it was a new experience!

  2. So no Tarantulas under the tree on Christmas morning?

    (I like that glass straw!)

  3. Sonic is too cute...he was showing off. :o)

    I love the Hippie sign!

That was so sweet of your husbands friend to do that for you...how thoughtful.

Looks like your brother did a good job too...that's a pretty tea set.

Did you find any animals under the tree?

  4. Sounds like you had a good time at Christmas and got some neat presents! I don't see any new animals, though. Maybe next year! :-)

  5. Jess- Glad to hear I am not the only one weird about the gravy ;)

Shen- No tarantulas :( Maybe I can convince him later in the year?

Michelle- No animals :( I am still hoping to maybe get this great dane from this rescue group in Colorado. She is blind and deaf due to a bad breeding situation. Their adoption fee is pretty high though. We will see. If it was just me and I wasn't married, I would already have her though!

Blessedmama- Nope, I hope next year too. I am trying to get my husband to ask our landlord if we can have a couple chickens and maybe turkeys in our yard. We will see...

  8. I went off milky latte about a year or two ago, so must give the soy latte version a go. I must check and see if they do them in the U.K. Surely they must do?!

I know if my husband saw your new kitchen sign he woud be coveting it. It just his sense of humour.

I too am not a fan of mock meat substitutes and this year made a vegan Brussles Sprouts pie. It was a big hit.

Wonderful gifts esp. the vegan gift basket.
    Happy New Year to you.

  9. Love the sign you put up in your kitchen, that is too cute! How nice that someone gave you a vegan gift basket that was very sweet. I am not the biggest fan of mock meats either unless I make them so I know what they contain. ;-)

    Enjoy your New Years Eve,
    Ali
